I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker through the Minnesota Board of Social Work. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin – Superior; in 2014 I graduated with my Master’s in Clinic Social Work from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where I completed my clinical internship with Deb Fisher, LICSW. My professional background includes Assertive Community Treatment, Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services, group therapy, program development, clinic management, and hospital social work and I have worked with individuals of all ages, from toddlers to the elderly. I have a true passion for the work that I do with all people, but especially adolescents and young adults.
My clinical expertise allows me to work with individuals experiencing trauma, major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, self-harm, crisis, psychosis, chemical dependency, bullying, family conflict, shame, grief, and other major stressors. My therapeutic approach takes principals of trauma-informed care to provide education, understanding, and healing from trauma. I am trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy as well--a therapy that is effective for 90% of people. I also utilize a basis of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) practices which emphasize the importance of understanding one’s values in order to make committed action in their own lives. I use a mix of talk therapy, EMDR, art, games, and creative exercises to assist my clients in discovering who they are, who they want to be, and how to get there.
