Debra Fisher, MSW, LICSW

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker through the Minnesota Board of Social Work. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology, as well as my Elementary Education Teaching Degree from the Bemidji State University. I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Minnesota - Duluth, with a focus in Child Welfare. My professional background includes elementary education teacher and mental health program management with the Arrowhead Headstart Program.

I am excited to make available unique and innovative therapy modalities to improve the mental health, and emotional needs of young children, adolescents and their families.  Child-centered approaches focus on therapeutic interactive play techniques that are designed to resolve emotional or social problems and reestablish balance and a sense of well-being in children. Children often lack the skills and capacity to express their feelings as adults do. Through the process of play in a safe and understanding therapeutic environment children can actively explore their feelings, address their fear, shame and frustration, and resolve their problems to move toward wellness.
